The operation of the Social Grocery is part of the initiatives and actions of the municipality of Samos for the civil protection and care of the   vulnerable groups of the population who inhabit the island and have seen a great reduction in their income due to various factors.

The Social Grocery of Samos is co-financed by the European Social Fund in the framework of the operational program ‘North Aegean 2014-2020’ and operates intermunicipally thus covering the needs of the people on both Eastern and Western Samos. It is staffed with a social worker administrative employee.

It distributes to people and households in need, for free, food, personal hygiene products, clothing and footwear etc. Its operation is based on donations by private citizens, businesses and associations/clubs which are socially aware and wish to contribute to this goal.
